April – Thrifty – Power Up!

By Linda Black & Sandra Bruening

So this is the last year I will be on the Theme Midway.  My partner and I have been here since we were holding “Pow-Wow” at Skyline High and Kearns High… two weeks in a row!  That has been a very long time ago and we wish to share some of the thing from the past years that fit into the theme of Thrifty.  If there are some Power Up ideas, they will be shared also.  We have taught some of the craft classes and shared many ideas with the things we have created, some from the Craft magazines and books that are on the magazine stands and some are from our own brains.

We hope that you will enjoy seeing these creations, mostly from the past!

Swords from newspaper

16_thrifty_1_2Roll up the paper on the diagonal until it is all in a roll. Masking tape works the best to hold it in place. Bend one end for the handle and tape to the body of the sword.  Make a few… they are a lot of fun and wear out soon.

Game from paper plate and newspaper sword

16_thrifty_2_-0Roll up newspaper as per directions for the sword.  Cur out the center of a large paper plate and decorate it.  Tie a string around the plate and then to the sword giving it enough length to allow you to sing the plate and try to “spear” it with the sword.
